Hence Gulzia persistently asks the local akim to bring the internet to the village, but he strongly resists. Aizhan is constantly reminded that her 'clock is ticking' but she has yet to find her match. She has tried everything, from numerology to wish cards and love affirmations, but to no avail. Zhanna, a successful career woman, has to return to the village to sell her late grandmother's house. She is burdened by even a short stay in the place where she grew up. Meanwhile, her sister Zhanat is satisfied with her rural life but secretly dreams of traveling to Switzerland.

Mommy

Set during the devastating famine in the Kazakh steppe, a small family of five makes a secret decision to leave their dying village. Their only provisions are water and a sack of kurt, a traditional cheese. Unbeknownst to the family, a starving boy has made a hole in the sack and is secretly eating the cheese, quickly depleting their resources. The family moves towards the border, avoiding deserted villages stalked by hungry wolves. Can they survive and reach safety, or will they, like many others, perish from hunger in the steppe, desolated by collectivization?

The Boyz

Sherkhan and Kazanbas are two inseparable friends with no jobs, no prospects. They earn their living through petty crime and blow their money in the local bar. Tension builds between the friends, and the promised release date never seems to come.
