Baadur

Leila's village is unlike any other. Black clouds float over it, mushroom-like clouds rise beyond the hills, and its graveyard outnumbers its living inhabitants. Leila, a young and beautiful girl, is raised by her rough truck-driving aunt, Katira, after her parents' demise. Mostly left to herself, Leila spends her days riding her donkey, having peculiar dreams, befriending an old Jew, and helping him construct cemetery ladders for the deceased to reach heaven. Little does she know about the trials ahead, emanating from the mysterious and beautiful clouds of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site.
