Aidos, Bekbol and Lyalya are inseparable friends who spend their days hauling watermelons from the fields, getting into mischief, and watching action films starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Sylvester Stallone. Life in their small village seems mundane until the beautiful Aliya arrives from the city. Bekbol falls for the charming girl, causing a rift among the friends. Lyalya, who acts like a tomboy, has long been in love with Aidos. In his efforts to impress the city beauty, Aidos spends most of his time at her house, helping with chores, and fails to notice that his own mother desperately needs his care and attention.

Ruthless gangster Talgat Kylyi steals a large sum of money from a powerful businessman and, escaping pursuit, pretends to be Major Pshembay of the police. Unexpectedly, he finds himself as the head of a police station in the provincial town of Bes-Qonyr. The locals believe he’s a real officer — some respect him, some fall in love with him, and others remain suspicious. The newly minted «major» isn’t in a hurry to leave: he begins to enjoy living by the law — though on his own terms. While solving petty crimes with big-time criminal methods, Kylyi faces his biggest challenge yet — the return of the real Pshembay and his own troubled past, which refuses to let him go.
