Young Alia enrolls in the Leningrad sniper school where she spends her last peaceful moments with friends Nadezhda and Rosa, marching under the command of a major and enjoying swims in the river. This idyllic scene is shattered by a German air raid, killing many and sending the survivors to the front lines. For Alia, the war is not only a fight against the enemy, but also a battle with her own fears. The film culminates in Alia's final battle and her death, but her courageous act remains a symbol of bravery and sacrifice in history.
