Nurken

Just turned 18, Dameli is married off to her widowed brother-in-law, Erdani, after her sister's death, as per an old tradition. She moves to a fishing village by Lake Balkhash to start a new life with his family. However, she's met with coldness as Erdani was against this marriage, only agreeing for his son's sake. Erdani was in love with another woman, whose family now threatens him. Gradually, Dameli and Erdani's relationship warms up. But during a fishing trip, Erdani is bitten by a wild cat, posing a threat of rabies. He's sent to an isolated island, leaving Dameli alone, who then starts receiving indecent advances from an NKVD officer.
