Set in 2008, Serik Sapiyev, a future legend of Kazakhstani boxing, is preparing for the Beijing Olympics. He is in prime shape, confident, ready to fight. Unexpectedly, he loses to Thai athlete Manus Boonjamnong, triggering a crossroads. Should he switch to professional boxing or train for the next Olympics in 2012, when he will be nearly 30, an age usually associated with retirement, not going for Olympic gold? As his life progressively unravels, with colleagues turning away and a strained romantic relationship, will this break his will to win or will he triumph despite all odds?
