Young Gulnaz comes to her uncle's town to finish her studies at a local school. She is met at the 'Mahabbat' station by Oryal, her future classmate. An instant bond sparks between them. At school, they are separated and Gulnaz is paired with another student, Zhenis, who also has feelings for her. A rivalry grows between the boys leading to a heated altercation where Oryal shoots Zhenis. Zhenis survives and forgives Oryal, who promises to leave town and never cross his path again. Oryal plans to bid goodbye to Gulnaz but fails to find her at home. Her uncle intercepts and burns his explanatory letter.
