Amidst World War II, two Soviet soldiers, Vano and Bakhytzhan, from different republics, battled together for their motherland, becoming the best of friends. A severe injury took Bakhytzhan's life, but before his death, he made Vano promise to unite their families. Decades later, the promise remains unfulfilled. Aging Vano sends his grandsons Buba and Nino to Kazakhstan to find Bakhytzhan's granddaughter and fulfill the ancient vow. But scatterbrained Buba loses the bride's address upon arrival...
