Fourth-grader Sanzhar is sent to live with his grandparents in a rural village. Despite the unfamiliar surroundings, he quickly embraces the spirit of country life, makes new friends, discovers new pastimes and forms a genuine bond with his teacher, Dana. One day, Sanzhar hears about the legend of Baiterek and decides that if he climbs its monument and makes a wish, it will certainly come true. His wish is simple: for his parents to occasionally take time off work and spend it with him. But can the magic of Baiterek transform Sanzhar's parents?

Five-year-old Kenzhe arrives in a quiet Kazakh village from a bustling city. His father, immersed in business and trying to pay off debt, leaves him in the care of his grandparents. Kenzhe’s grandmother is diagnosed with a serious illness, and her son desperately searches for a miraculous cure. Meanwhile, Kenzhe observes the animals in the village, forming a particular bond with a boar named Yashka. However, one day Grandpa Matvey decides to slaughter Yashka. These events, both significant and trivial, intertwine like a patchwork quilt, gradually shaping Kenzhe's worldview.

In the family of Kurmash, a great sorrow weighs heavy: his beloved wife cannot bear him a child, as all are stillborn. In desperation, Kurmash seeks help from a local healer, who provides an unusual, almost humorous advice that surprisingly works. Kurmash has his first child, but he is dissatisfied again. He wanted a boy, but his wife gave birth to a girl. The healer, mocking the unfortunate father, suggests he whisper to the baby that she is a boy. Kurmash decides to do just that. He raises the little girl, named Seker, as a boy. He teaches her to be a fearless rider and a farmhand. However, when Seker turns 13, it becomes increasingly difficult to hide her true gender, and the school teachers start raising alarm.
