As a child, Zhaksylyk had never contemplated about sports. Like many of his peers, he practiced Kazaksha-Kures at school but considered it a mere pastime. A twist of fate decided his destiny. At the veterinary institute, he had to pass a physical education test to qualify for exams. Given two choices, skiing or wrestling, Zhaksylyk chose the latter and didn't regret it. Sports seized him, training with incredible perseverance and dedication. Two years later, he was a champion of KazSSR. However, he was not selected for the USSR championship and was not considered for the 1980 Olympics. How did the great athlete overcome the biased attitudes and achieve his cherished dream?

Set in 2008, Serik Sapiyev, a future legend of Kazakhstani boxing, is preparing for the Beijing Olympics. He is in prime shape, confident, ready to fight. Unexpectedly, he loses to Thai athlete Manus Boonjamnong, triggering a crossroads. Should he switch to professional boxing or train for the next Olympics in 2012, when he will be nearly 30, an age usually associated with retirement, not going for Olympic gold? As his life progressively unravels, with colleagues turning away and a strained romantic relationship, will this break his will to win or will he triumph despite all odds?

From an early age, Kanat is passionate about basketball. Despite the difficulties he faced, he continues to strive for athletic peaks. His diligence is noticed and he is invited to play for a local team. However, fate has another challenge in store for Kanat: due to excessive stress, he injures his knee. The doctors' verdict is grim: his path to professional sports is closed. Kanat struggles with the collapse of his dream, but perhaps all is not lost yet?

By day, he's a porter at the market, hawking his services with a loud cry of 'Zhól!' By night, he's a participant in brutal underground fights. Nicknamed 'Little Flame', he's strong, resilient, and lucky, and while he can fight well, his ambitions extend beyond the underground. He dreams of a professional boxing career, watching professional bouts with admiration and longing to one day be in the ring himself. Gathering his courage, he approaches a boxing club where a seasoned coach notices him and agrees to train him. But does Little Flame have the strength to overcome not only his opponents but also his own fears and societal barriers?
