The story of repatriates forced to leave their homeland in the 1930s unfolds in Kunduz, a remote province in northeastern Afghanistan. Old man Bazarbay has two children, a son and a daughter, both with families of their own. His son married a local Pashtun woman, and his daughter wed an Afghan. After several attempts, the family finally receives a long-awaited quota to return and embarks on their journey.
