Mukagali

Set during the devastating famine in the Kazakh steppe, a small family of five makes a secret decision to leave their dying village. They have no livestock, leaving a young man as the only one capable of pulling their cart. His son and mother sit in the cart with their meager belongings, while his wife and father push from behind. Their only provisions are water and a sack of kurt, a traditional cheese. Unbeknownst to the family, a starving boy has made a hole in the sack and is secretly eating the cheese, quickly depleting their resources. The family moves towards the border, avoiding deserted villages stalked by hungry wolves. Can they survive and reach safety, or will they, like many others, perish from hunger in the steppe, desolated by collectivization?

Shyrğalañ

A young woman leads an ordinary life, commuting to work, visiting cafes and shops, learning Chinese, and caring for her somewhat capricious daughter. However, they are the only ones left in a massive metropolis that has fallen silent. Their tiny world provides an illusion of tranquility and happiness until a mysterious man, only seen by the girl, appears. The mother's disbelief turns into a real nightmare.

Mukha, a local neighborhood leader, lives in the city center with his mother and brother Adil, whom he tries to replace as a father. Mukha shows promise in boxing and has some life prospects, but this doesn't prevent him from self-destructive adventures and cruel actions. Despite this, Adil adores his brother. One day, Mukha commits a robbery and is forcibly drafted into the army. Adil matures and takes over the gang leadership. When Mukha returns, the brothers' paths cross again, but a deep chasm now lies between them.

The Boyz

Sherkhan and Kazanbas are two inseparable friends with no jobs, no prospects. They earn their living through petty crime and blow their money in the local bar. One day, fortune smiles upon them as two stunning beauties take notice of them and invite them over. However, instead of the girls, two hulking men suddenly appear, forcibly taking them to a semi-abandoned house in the middle of the steppe. As they brace for the worst, they are surprisingly tasked with a harmless task: making dumplings. Despite several escape attempts, they are caught and their 'manufacturing' sentence is extended. Kazanbas gradually becomes engrossed in the business, even offering the boss valuable sales tips. Sherkhan, however, remains desperate for freedom. Tension builds between the friends, and the promised release date never seems to come.

Dumplings and slavery

High school student Amir prefers the virtual world to reality. He despises piano lessons with a cat-loving old woman, tedious schoolwork, and parents who no longer communicate effectively. However, as Amir delves deeper into this illusion, the line between the game and real life blurs. His seemingly harmless hobby gradually becomes a threat.

Sunflower

Didar, an unrecognized poet working in a small Kazakh newspaper, feels his creativity is unappreciated in the modern world. Inspired by the life of poet Mahambet Utemisov, who fought for his art in the 19th century, Didar decides to perform at a literary evening in a small town. He realizes that his poetry is as overlooked by his contemporaries as Utemisov's verses were by the authorities in the past. The deeper Didar delves into his reflections, the harder it becomes for him to believe that the art of words can find resonance in this world. Can his verses overcome the barriers of time and find their listener?

Poet

At 16, Arsen moves to a big city with his mother and enrolls in one of Almaty's most prestigious schools. He excels in sports and dreams of becoming a soldier like his father, who died in Afghanistan. However, the new environment has its own rules. Here, everyone is divided into districts and defends their rights with their fists. Arsen is drawn to this daring 'street' world filled with forbidden pleasures, street hooliganism, and petty crimes. He falls in love with the sister of a local authority figure and embarks on a path of self-destruction that's nearly impossible to leave.

Districts

From an early age, Kanat is passionate about basketball. Despite the difficulties he faced, he continues to strive for athletic peaks. His diligence is noticed and he is invited to play for a local team. However, fate has another challenge in store for Kanat: due to excessive stress, he injures his knee. The doctors' verdict is grim: his path to professional sports is closed. Kanat struggles with the collapse of his dream, but perhaps all is not lost yet?

The Dash

A modern adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's tale 'The Stationmaster', set in the Kazakh steppe. Rail inspector Aidar and his daughter Saule live in an isolated outpost amid vast expanses. Soon, French tourist Etienne appears, forced off the train with no money and no knowledge of Kazakh. Aidar shelters the traveller, introducing him to Saule. A friendship blossoms between them, gradually turning into romance. However, Saule and Etienne's relationship displeases her father. When Saule decides to leave for Europe with Etienne, Aidar furiously pursues them.

Steppe Express

The carefree life of a Tatar boy named Zakir is disrupted when a foal called Tarlan becomes his best friend. When Tarlan is seriously wounded by wolves, Zakir gives up his usual lifestyle and ventures into the mountains in search of healing herbs. Assisted by his wise grandfather Safa and his beloved Aigul, Zakir dreams of winning the Sabantuy horse race with Tarlan but must overcome not only his horse’s ailment but also his own pride and vanity.

Tarlan

In the family of a renowned local horseman, tragedy strikes: a horrific car accident takes the life of his beloved wife and leaves him wheelchair-bound. The now father-led family is relearning how to live and find joy in each new day. The eldest son decides to carry on his father's legacy and become a famous horseman. However, he must overcome numerous unexpected obstacles on the path to his dream.

Vortex

A biographical account of the ingenious bard, Jambul Jabayev. The plot revolves around his childhood and adolescent years when poetry became his guiding star. Infatuations, first verses, trials, and joys of growing up - all these shaped the future wordsmith. The film pays special attention to his creative journey, featuring Jambul's works that exhibit the power and magnificence of his poetry.

Youth of Zhambyl

Young Zere lives in a tiny fishing village on the coast of Balkhash. Tragedy recently struck her family when their father Kadyr drowned with a boat he borrowed from local vagabond Makosh. Makosh demands compensation, but Zere's mother lacks the funds. Their family teeters on the brink of destitution. Desperate to secure a future for her daughter, Zere's mother plans to marry her off to a wealthy but old man. Zere, however, vehemently opposes this, refusing to be sold like cattle. Moreover, her heart belongs to a local boy, and the feeling is mutual. But it seems that no one cares about Zere's opinion.

Zere

By day, he's a porter at the market, hawking his services with a loud cry of 'Zhól!' By night, he's a participant in brutal underground fights. Nicknamed 'Little Flame', he's strong, resilient, and lucky, and while he can fight well, his ambitions extend beyond the underground. He dreams of a professional boxing career, watching professional bouts with admiration and longing to one day be in the ring himself. Gathering his courage, he approaches a boxing club where a seasoned coach notices him and agrees to train him. But does Little Flame have the strength to overcome not only his opponents but also his own fears and societal barriers?

The Boxer’s Path

Smart and cheerful Kausar lives in a small village with her father. Her mother passed away a long time ago, but despite the pain of loss, the little girl continues to live on. Her father Alihan, however, struggles to cope with his loss. He drinks, spends long hours alone in the kitchen, and seemingly doesn't acknowledge his daughter's presence. Kausar's mother once told her that if you see a falling star and make a wish, it would surely come true. Hence, the girl spends every night looking out the window at the sky, hoping for a falling star so she can wish for her father's return. One day, she decides to climb on the roof for a better view of the sky, a decision that will forever change her life.
